About Mark Kemble

Mark wrote and directed for the stage and film in Los Angeles, off-Broadway and Providence for over thirty years.
​

​He was the Artist-in-Residence at The Actors Studio West and
 Co-Moderator, with Peter Flood, of the Actors Studio West, Play Development Unit.​

Bad Hurt marks a promising film directorial debut from playwright Mark Kemble.

Mark was co-writer, with Tom Musca, and Associate Producer, for the HBO release, RACE, starring Paul Rodriguez, C.C.H. Pounder and Academy Award winner Cliff Robertson.  The film won the Imagen Award.

He co-wrote, with Tom Musca and Noel Quinones, and was Associate Producer of the Showtime Family release, FACING FEAR, starring Miguel Sandoval, Dean Cain and Talisa Soto.  The film won the Best Family Feature award at the Hollywood Film Festival.

In film, he directed and co-wrote, with Jamieson Stern, BAD HURT, starring Iris Gilad, Michael Harney, Karen Allen, Theo Rossi, Calvin Dutton, and Johnny Whitworth.  BAD HURT was voted among the Top Ten audience favorites at the Tribeca Film Festival.  The film was released in ten major cities and enjoyed a two year run on Netflix.

Mark was a member of t
he L.A. Playwright Group,  the Mark Taper Forum Mentor Playwright program, and the LATC Playwright Group.  He has also been mentored by María Irene Fornés, Joseph Kierland, Lou Antonio, Salome Jens, John Abbot, Martin Landau, Mark Rydell, and Milton Katselas.

Mark has lectured at the Rhode Island School of Design, U.C.L.A Career Week, and the University of Miami Film School.
